Welcome to my new blog. Actually, it is my first blog so…it would have to be my new one. I am not entering into the blogosphere because I believe I have the most enlightened or intellectual or “cutting edge” views and thoughts that simply must be shared with the world. I don’t. I am a simple man, nothing spectacular. I do, however, have a message to share.
For your sake and mine, I want to list the reasons that I have decided to write a blog.
- I have a message to share and I desire to share it in as many forums as I can. This is the most life-changing message that has ever been given to man. It is a message of hope in the midst despair, peace in the midst of chaos, love in midst of rejection, joy in the midst of sadness, comfort in the midst of grief. It is a message of salvation by grace through faith breaking the hold of the condemnation sin. It is a message that holds the meaning of life. It is all about Jesus!
- I have the privilege of being the pastor of an awesome group of individuals known as Glenn View Baptist Church. I love this church! We are a congregation of imperfect people who are seeking to serve and to share a perfect Christ through love. Each week, I pour my heart out to the people God has entrusted to me. There is, however, only so much time on any given Sunday morning. As our church body grows in number, it becomes more difficult for me to spend individual time with our members, hearing their hearts and sharing mine. My hope is that this blog will go beyond the sermons and be a place where the people I minister to can hear my heart and mind.
- Writing gives me a forum for expressing some of the “overflow” that I receive from the Lord as I study His Word and prepare to teach and preach. Writing also should help keep my mind sharp. I think most individuals are like me in that they have a tendency to get comfortable and coast in their spiritual and intellectual growth. Coasting, though, is probably just a nice way of saying we are “lazy” or “falling behind.” As long as God chooses to keep me here I want to be striving to be all that I can be both spiritually and intellectually.
- Finally, I hope that this blog provides opportunities to meet new friends, including even those who may disagree or challenge me. I welcome the expansion of my circle of influence and hope that I can learn from others as well.
About me:
My name is Bill Coleman and I am 37 years old. I have been the pastor at Glenn View Baptist Church in Winston-Salem for 9 tremendous years. I have a beautiful wife named Tiffany and we are getting ready to celebrate our 14th wedding anniversary. {We are going on a trip to Hawaii that we WON on www.mycokerewards.com! That’s right. I never win anything, but I did this time. We can’t wait!) My son, Austin, is 11 years old and I can’t believe that he is getting ready to enter middle school! He is a sports junkie, like his dad, and he is “mini-Shaq” on the basketball court. He is very intelligent and has a great sense of humor (which can really aggravate his sister at times!). My precious daughter, Alaina, is 8 years old is beautiful and can melt you with her smile! She is very artistic, an excellent reader, and loves music.
There is a lot more to say, but certainly that is enough to get started. After all, I hope to be in this for the long haul. I won’t be writing every day, but I plan on writing at least once a week. I hope to see you back and I welcome any comments.
Until then…
Wonderful venture Bill. I know that you will really share your heart for Jesus! You are a wonderful pastor and a wonderful person. I will look forward to reading this Blog each week.

Bill,
This will be a great way to minister to the church family like college students who had to move away for school or other reasons, I will be forwarding this web address to Ashley so she can be ministered too. I know she misses your sermans and your heart for the Lord. It has been a blessing to me to have you as my pastor, a Man after God’s own heart, who is seeking each day to grow in him. Thank you for your leadership.

Bill,
Congratulations on your blog! I think you are definitely moving in the right direction in spreading your thoughts, ideas and zeal to others. I have met many a pastor and you stand out among the best. It’s only fitting that you spread the word to those that are constrained by distance and time. I really enjoy hearing you preach and look forward to what you have planned for here. Good luck and God speed you on your way.

Bill,
First off, “Thank You” for an absolutely awesome sermon on Sunday. And, for your first time blogging, you did great. This is going to reach way beyond the Glenn View family. In an age where everyone has come to rely on computers, this will be one of the truly great things about the internet. Know that you will be “bookmarked” by many.

Hey Bill,
We’re imperfect and you’re going to Hawaii, what are you trying to say here? Hope this isn’t a “dear John” blog
We are imperfect and you are wonderful at showing us how to have God’s love and forgiveness through Jesus. We look forward to reading what you’ll share. Thank you for having a heart for God and us!
May you and Tiffany have an awesome trip and anniversary! And if you happen to get any mission trip ideas…..
